One of the newest rental communities in the Dallas Farmers Market district, the 313 unit Alta Farmers Market, sold last year to two Florida investors for over $40 million.
Downtown Dallas’ growing Farmers Market district is getting another major residential project.

Developers have already built four large apartment communities and townhouses in the area around the produce market on the southeast side of downtown.

Now a San Antonio apartment builder is joining the party with a large rental community.

Lynd Development Partners has applied for building permits for a 297-unit, $33.5 million apartment project at 1915 Cadiz St. near Harwood Street. The apartments are
planned just west of the Farmers Market.

Lynd officials would not respond to requests for information about the development. The company is one of Texas’ biggest apartment developers, with complexes in several cities. This will be its first project in the Dallas area.

Merriman Anderson/Architect Inc. designed the downtown Dallas development.

“The Farmers Market continues to attract quality developers and investors, particularly in the residential arena,” said John Crawford of Downtown Dallas Inc. “The perspective for this area has changed dramatically over the last years and should continue to evolve as a prime area for redevelopment in revitalizing downtown.

“The privatization of the Farmers Market has provided additional exposure and credibility for future growth to attract not only residential but retail components needed to make this a go-to destination.”
