Downtown Colocation Facility Need Is Met With Reliability

Provision Data Services recently opened its first data center located at 2020 Live Oak St.

DALLAS—The Dallas-Fort Worth metro is one of the top data center markets in the country and the fourth largest US metropolitan area. The North Texas region offers reliable electricity with high-speed connectivity provided by multiple service providers, as well as tax incentives and a large pool of tech talent.
As previously reportedProvision Data Services recently opened its first data center located at 2020 Live Oak St. A Fortune 500 telecommunications company serves as the anchor tenant for the 137,000-square-foot data center, occupying 10,000 square feet within the 12-story structure. Provision’s managed data center services are in strategically located facilities.
“We knew there was a need for a large colocation facility in downtown Dallas and the 2020 Live Oak property provided that opportunity,” David Tordoff, chief operating officer/co-founder of Provision Data Services, tells “Our investment in the building, purchased out of foreclosure, was based on two current beliefs, which included the anticipation that the amount of data produced in North Texas and surrounding areas would continue to grow, and the idea that the data use overload trend would lead users to outsource to purpose-built data centers where all the company data is managed more efficiently.”
Headquartered in Dallas, Provision offers users a double-contingency system that serves the high-density load with five separate networks. This double-contingency design assures uninterrupted service in the event of the loss of one or two network feeders or transformers. 14 MW of utility power is available with scalability to increased capacity and it is a tier 3 conformal and SAS 70 Type 2, SSAE 16 SOC I, SOC II compliant facility.
The flexible colocation space has single-tenant floors, locked cages and suites, build-to-suits for independent data centers, two separate Meet-Me-Rooms, and up to 10,000 square feet of contiguous space with wholesale colocation options. The facility has 24/7 on-site personnel with a 12-foot perimeter wall and multi-factor security fencing enclosing the generator yard.
