Construction starts on $500 million residential community in Celina

Hillwood's Lilyana community will have more than 1,200 homes.
Developer Hillwood Communities is breaking ground on its newest North Texas residential community.
The $500 million Lilyana community is one of several residential projects Hillwood is working on in the Collin County town of Celina.
The 400-acre project at Frontier Parkway and Coit Road is about 10 miles north of Frisco.
The master-planned community will have 1,250 single-family homes, 63 acres of green space with parks and trails and a community center with resort-style swimming pool.
The first phase of the project will be ready next Spring.
Homes in the development will average in the high $300,000s and builders are Highland Homes, David Weekley Homes, CalAtlantic Homes and American Legend Homes.
"Celina is a booming city in North Dallas, and we are excited to partner with them and local vendors to bring jobs and businesses along with more residents here," Elaine Ford, senior vice president, Hillwood Communities, said in a statement.
Hillwood is building Lilyana on land it purchased last year from the pioneer Wells family.
The developer also has acquired another 244 acres from the Wells family, which has owned land in the area since the 1800s. Work on that property will start later this year.
And last week Hillwood said it would team up with Dallas-based real estate development firm Wynne/Jackson to develop a third 350-home residential community west of Preston Road in Celina.
Hillwood is one of Texas' largest residential community developers, having developed 24,000 single-family lots in 80 projects.
