Uptown tower project starts with morning groundbreaking

At this morning’s groundbreaking for the new Park District project in Uptown, officials wore cowboy hats instead of the traditional construction helmets.

The 2-tower development at Pearl Street and Woodall Rodgers will include an office tower and 34-story apartment high-rise. There’s also ground floor restaurants and retail.
Trammell Crow and MetLife are the developers.
Crow has been trying to get the groundbreaking started since November but ran into delays.
“People don’t realize how long something like this takes to put together,” said Crow senior managing director Scott Krikorian. “This kind of project doesn’t happen very often and not without a lot of hard work.
