New investment is kickstarting downtown Dallas’ West End district

The century-old buildings in the West End — including the Awalt Building at 208 N. Market St. — are being snapped up by developers envisioning trendy trappings for millennial office workers and apartment dwellers.
Developers are buying up historic buildings in downtown Dallas’ West End district.
It’s happened before. But this time the purchases in the longtime entertainment district aren’t for the usual retail, restaurant or apartment space.
The early 20th-century warehouse buildings are being acquired for new offices for innovative companies that want unique work spaces.
More than a half-dozen West End buildings have changed hands within the last few months.
The largest deal includes five properties purchased by Fort Worth-based Goff Capital.
