N. Texas warehouse construction tops 16 million square feet
Dallas-Fort Worth industrial building construction has topped 16 million square feet – the largest building volume in more than a decade.
The greatest concentration of warehouse construction is in North Fort Worth and in the Interstate 30 corridor in southern Dallas County, according to the latest statistics from commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield of Texas.
Through the first half of 2014, net industrial building leasing in North Texas has totaled almost 14 million square feet – up slightly from the same period last year.
But average rents are up only slightly from a year ago.
Industrial vacancy rates for North Texas are hovering just over 8 percent, one of the lowest levels in more than a decade.
