H-E-B to spend $14M on first DFW Plus! store in Burleson
Dallas-Fort Worth will soon have its first H-E-B Plus! store after a $14 million expansion in Burleson is completed.
When the renovations are done, the store, 165 NW John Jones Drive, will grow from 88,000 square feet to 115,000 square feet. It will sell merchandise for the electronics, toys, housewares, grilling and outdoor furniture, apparel, party supplies, and plants in addition to groceries. It also will have an expanded produce department, a healthy living department offering 600 new bulk items, a scratch bakery, beer and wine and a specialty shop stocked with small appliances, utensils and cookware.
Construction on the Burleson store, which opened in 2010, began this month and is projected to be completed in February.
The new store is the only H-E-B Plus! planned in DFW for the immediate future.
“We’re always monitoring what the business looks like, the needs of our customers and what’s missing in this area,” said Leticia Mendoza, an H-E-B spokeswoman. “This one just so happened to give us additional room, and the area was growing. So we wanted to grow with it.”
San Antonio-based H-E-B is also adding more space to its Waxahachie and Cleburne stores.
Waxahachie will get 30,000 square feet of additional space, and Cleburne will be moved into a new, larger building directly behind its current store. Construction on the Cleburne location is expected to begin in fall and finish in spring.
H-E-B has more than 350 stores across Texas and Mexico, generating $20 billion in sales for the company each year.
