The Prestonwood County Club in Far North Dallas has been purchased by ClubCorp, the owner and operator of golf courses, country clubs and private clubs.
The purchase includes both the 18-hole Prestonwood Country Club on Preston Road near Arapaho Road and the Hills Country Club in Plano.
The two golf courses were bought from the Miller family. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
“The company plans to invest in a multimillion-dollar renovation project that will include improvements to member dining areas, both golf courses and family amenities,” Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp CEO, said in a statement.
Prestonwood Country Club in Far North Dallas dates to 1968 and has been owned by the Henry S. Miller family for more than 30 years. The Plano course opened in the 1980s.
“ClubCorp is an ideal fit to follow our family’s ownership of Prestonwood,” said Greg Miller, CEO of Henry S. Miller’s Cos. “They are committed to quality and offer members such a great experience at all their clubs.”
The popular golf course was recently in the news regarding a water rights dispute with the City of Dallas.
Dallas-based ClubCorp also has the Gleneagles Country Club, Stonebriar Country Club and Brookhaven Country Club in the Dallas area.
ClubCorp owns or operates more than 150 golf and country clubs, business clubs, sports clubs, and alumni clubs in the U.S. and abroad.
