Construction starts on City Lights project east of downtown Dallas

More than 400 apartments are being built on the vacant property on Live Oak Street. (Steve Brown)
Dallas’ City Lights development languished for years.
But the new owner of the property on the eastern edge of downtown hasn’t wasted any time with the project.
Apartment developer Greystar recently bought the 4-acre vacant tract at Live Oak Street and Good-Latimer Expressway. And Greystone has already broken ground on the site.
The South Carolina-based apartment investor, developer and manager is building a 424-unit, luxury apartment community called Elan City Lights.
The first units in the development will be ready late next year.
Greystar acquired Lights property out of bankruptcy.
