Developer Hillwood Gets Go Ahead for Major Industrial Project in Hutchins

Developer Hillwood has gotten the go ahead from the City of Hutchins to build a 1.6 million square-foot warehouse complex just off Interstate 45.
The big industrial development will be on 83 acres that Hillwood – the developer of the huge AllianceTexas project north of Fort Worth – is buying.
The project would be northeast of the Union Pacific’s rail terminal and south of the FedEx Ground shipping center – a perfect location for distribution.
Hutchins agreed to provide property tax abatements for Hillwood’s development .
“It could one or two buildings,” Hutchins mayor Artis Johnson said Wednesday.
And so far Hillwood hasn’t lined up a lead tenant for the development.
“They are going to build either way,” Johnson said.
In recent years a growing chunk of North Texas’ distribution business has shifted to the Interstate 20 and Interstate 45 corridors in South Dallas County.
Companies including Quaker Oats, Ace Hardware, BMW and L’Oreal during the last year located facilities in the Inland Port area in Hutchins, Far South Dallas, Lancaster and Wilmer.
